Heyward Cassidy Hawkins
Heyward Hawkins earned a B.S. in physics and worked 22 years in quality engineering. A subsequent M.A. in linguistics led to teaching English as a second and foreign language, plus freelance copyediting.
He often thought about writing a book, but didn’t know what to write about.
In August 2001, just before the 9/11 tragedies, Hawkins, who was a Republican, moved from Florida to Las Vegas. While studying the political scene and doing research for his book, Hawkins became a political activist and a Democrat.
Now Hawkins had something important to write about.
While researching, Hawkins became more acquainted with extreme positions on issues, from both the political Right and Left. From those investigations and observations, he changed his political affiliation to Independent, after having moved back to Florida in the fall of 2009.
Hawkins is a passionate Centrist who realizes that both the Right and the Left are responsible for the mess our country is in, especially the growing divide between the haves and the have-nots.
Mel Lipman, immediate past president of the American Humanist Association, testifies that Hawkins identifies and makes clear the most complex problems and provides logical solutions. Lipman also recognizes Hawkins's love for our country and his passion for returning our country to the people.
